This book was so cookie-cutter it was almost painful to read. There are no surprises at anytime. The author feels the need to spell everything out to you and is constantly repeating the same information over and over and over again as if I'm stupid and can't remember anything. I was annoyed with that.
The fast pace kept me reading and the fact this series was cheap on Kindle is the only reason I bought it. The pace keeps me going because there is constantly something happening, but at the same ti

I enjoyed it and plan to read the other books. There are 17 in this series, but they are all pretty short and seem to end on cliffhangers. The first two books are free but the next is 3.99.
In this book we see Thor vindicated, as the dying king proclaims his innocense. After the kings death Gwen is passed over for Garth (the evil brother) to rule, and Thor and Gwen finally resolve their misunderstanding and declare their love for each other.
The book leaves off with Thor and the Legion

Book one was only worthy of a single star (actually none but there's no option for that). I figured that maybe the author would have learned a few things and improved her writing for this one. While the style of writing did show an improvement in flow and description, it wasn't enough to overcome the careless mistakes that proofreading and editing should have caught.
The magical Destiny Sword of the first book somehow became the Dynasty Sword in this one. The rival kingdom started out as the McL

Morgan Rice has written a series entitled The Sorcerer’s Ring. I really don’t know how it happened, but I started reading Book 2, A March of Kings. I have not read A Quest of Heroes, which is Book 1 in the series. I will say that I didn’t realize that I was reading Book 2 for a few chapters mainly because I became engrossed in the characters, the plot and the setting that Ms. Rice has crafted.
The main story is set in a fantasy world called the Ring. In this, the second book, the MacGil dynasty

I noticed some glaring errors in this book,(One where they were talking about one brother and used the other brother's name in the next sentence- Maybe because both of them start with G--I am surprised an editor didn't catch this) but I still liked the story. It is simplistic and somewhat like the Arthurian stories, but I have enjoyed it. I like Thor, I do think he is a little too clueless about things but considering his upbringing-being a sheep herder and not really being around girls, etc, th..more

When you thought that the story could not get better, the author delivers an amazing sequence that will keep you entertained and wishing for more! In this second episode, our hero Thor escape from the dungeons where he was held captive under the charge of attempting to assassinate the king. But the king suffered another assassination attempt when Thor was captive and this time he is dying on his bed and Thor is proclaimed innocent by the king himself. But his adventures have just began for a sec..more
Wow, Morgan Rice sure can write and tell a good story.
This whole series 'The Sorcerer's Ring' is one of the best fantasy/fiction series I have ever read.
And if you like Magic, Romance, friendship and fighting through adversity you have found a great series. I would even say that 'The Sorcerer's Ring' series makes Harry Potters books seem dull and slow.
I am a fantasy book fanatic and it is the main type of book series I stick with. I don't write many reviews, but Morgan Rice's 'The Sorcerer's Rin

Don't read this authors books if typos in published books bother you.. there are quite a few. I don't know why I read through the fourth book in this series. I should have spent my time and money on an author that cares more about polishing his work for his readers than churning another 150 pages out.
It's a decent story but very long winded and plot lines are setup which I don't think will be realized for another 4 books.

Short but decent
Long on plot, short on character development and number of words. Good enough for now, but not sure I'll have the fortitude or cash to finish the series.

Intense reading
This book was as intense as it was exciting. There are more twists than a maze. A very enjoyable book.
I liked the first book, but, unfortunately, this one fell flat for me. My biggest complaint? Grammar. There were so many colons and semicolons. They stopped my rhythm far too often. I didn't particularly enjoy the cliffhanger ending either.
I could definitely see the innocence trying to be preserved for the love story, but it was almost as if the author was trying too hard.
Still, if you can get past the grammar, you may like it.
For my clean readers:

I did enjoy this book, it is a nice easy book to listen to while driving to work. And I am interested in where the story will go from here
However..
My issue is that the series consists of 17 books. If I am to buy them all (preferably on audio) it is going to cost a fair bit. And I don't feel the series is good enough to warrant spending that amount of money..
So for now I am going to take a break, and if I find myself still thinking of how the story will progress I might pick it back up :)

Completely unimpressed. I had a promotion to get books 1-3 as a bundle so this review is for all three. I don't know where one began and one ended.
Problem 1 - Morgan Rice is not a good writer. At one point, she's describing a character's since of purpose in a dream sequence and out of 6 sentences, 3 said the same thing 'this is where he was supposed to be.' Amazingly, the first and second sentence were nearly identical with only 2-3 words differing. It's like her publisher said, 'We need anothe

This second in the series begins to focus on other characters than Thor. Actually King MacGil is the center of the plot which involves his demise and his ghost's call for revenge. (Macbeth??)
First paragraphs
King MacGil stumbled into his chamber, having had way too much to drink, the room spinning, his head pounding from the night’s festivities. A woman whose name he did not know clung to his side, one arm draped around his waist, her shirt half-removed, leading him with a giggle toward his bed.

I'm not reading anymore reviews on this series. After I wrote a fantastic review of the first book, I read the second one and loved it just as much. I plan on continuing. Everyone is saying its too 'simple', 'cookie cutter' etc but I personally love this series. I've read countless fantasy books and series which is my favorite genre and I think Morgan Rice nailed it. There's authors like Tolkien and Jordan who make series more complex which are great. But some that are simple are just as magical..more
Free books will be the death of me. Horrible doesn't begin to properly describe this. First of all, this 'book' was169 pages compared to the 350 that the first book was. The end of the last book brought the main character to the dungeon on suspicion of trying to assassinate the king. In this short novella, he escaped, cleared his name, the king died with his traitorous son being crowned, the siblings suspicions, ands the main character going to final training. You could take one of those ideas a..more
An entire entitled generation has grown up having been taught that self-expression trumpeted learning the disciplines of spelling and grammar. Compound this with the shorthand and jargon of texting and instant messaging and one has an entire generation that wonder what grammarians such as myself are carping about. Omg! I loved this book so much! Morgan Rice has completely captured me in her fantasy world. I love Thor and the trials he continuously has to go through. Gwen is another favorite character. I even feel bad for and almost like Gareth as much as I don't like him. All of the characters bring the story to life and force me to keep reading, to keep thinking about them even after the book it's done. I have to recommend this book to everyone looking for a great fantasy read!

Again I would recommend this to anyone who likes medieval/fantasy books. An excellent read just like the first one in the series, significantly shorter though. The slight grammatical errors in both books haven't bothered me thus far, but I can see how it would some people. I am looking forward to reading the 3rd book in the series and then the 4th on the fifteenth.

This is a compelling story. A lot of drama and some angst. Evil vs good. Of course, romance is important in this story, but destiny is such a huge part too. I like the heroes and the multiple perspectives blend very well. Still having to deal with the cliffhangers though.
This is the kind of book I would give to someone that I don't want in the library anymore.
better than the first, but still does not measure up in standard.. also feels like it is written like a long winded soap opera where nothing progresses..

Morgan Rice continues his “In The Sorcerer’s Ring” story with Book #2: A March of Kings. And Book #2 doesn’t disappoint.
The adventures of Thor continue right where they left off in Book #1. The King was almost poisoned. Thor was thrown in prison. An assassination plot was foiled?
The Kingdom of the Ring only continues to grow in this latest instalment, and things are just now heating up. With neighbouring kingdom, the McClouds growing in confidence in their ability to overthrow the MaGil throne,

I enjoyed this story, if too short, and wonder why there are so many nasty reviews - mine is not fake!
It has a great plot with characters that fit well into the story. Yes, there are cliches and yes, it could be argued that the characters are one dimensional and repetitious, however, the writing style makes for easy reading and that's no bad thing when looking for an entertaining read.
It is steeped in fantasy and edges in magic, which is slowly building the suspense in the mystery that surrounds

If it weren't for the interesting concepts going on, this book would barely be worth a nickle to use for fire starter. The author's understanding of human nature is puerile; the characters almost all seem like immature middle school kids. And if you have any knowledge of things military be prepared for regular torture at the utter stupidity of how training and even battle are related.
After suffering through the first book, I thought maybe the author might have learned a little in between, but it

One of the famous fantasy novel series’ written by Morgan Rice is the Sorcerer’s Ring series, which consists of a total of seventeen novels published between the years 2012 and 2014. The first novel of this series was published by the Morgan Rice herself in the year 2012 under the title ‘A Quest of Heroes’. The series is full of all the ingredients that are required for becoming an instant success. Author Morgan was praised for describing the unique plots, mysteries, blossoming relationships, counterplots, deceptions, valiant knights, betrayals and heart breaks in a beautiful and interesting way. The novels of the series are efficient enough to keep the readers entertained even if they keep reading it for long hours. It is a recommended and must read series for all the fantasy lovers and is suitable for people of all ages. The first novel of the series revolves around the epic story of a young and special boy named Thorgrin, who is just 14 years old. Thorgrin comes from a small village near the boundaries of the Kingdom of the Ring and is the youngest among 4 siblings. He is hated by his brothers and is also disliked by his father. But, he does not care much about them as he knows that he is different from the others.

The only dream that he has after growing into an adult is to join the King’s men and become a great warrior. He intends to protect the Ring from the harmful creatures on the other side of the kingdom. After coming of age, Thorgrin gets forbidden by his family and tries to join the King’s Legion, determined not to take no for an answer. He makes sure that he becomes a part of the King’s Court and taken seriously. However, the King’s Court is facing its own family struggles, dramas, jealousy, betrayal, ambitions and violence. In the middle of all this drama, King MacGil is required to choose his heir from his children as the ancient Dynasty Sword, which is the source of all their powers, waits for the arrival of the chosen one and sits still untouched. Then Thorgrin arrives in the court in order to enter into the battle for getting accepted into the King’s Legion. Soon, he comes to know that he possesses some mysterious powers. Even though he does not understand them, he believes that he has a special gift and an even more special destiny. He falls in love with the daughter of the king, and begins to develop his relationship with her against all odds. However, he soon realizes that he has many powerful rivals. As he tries to understand his powers, Thorgrin is taken by the king’s sorcerer, who tells him about a mother, he knew from the far away lands, beyond the Canyons and the land of the Dragons. Then, Thorgrin is sent to the necessary training for becoming a warrior. But, he feels that he is getting pulled into the center of the plots and counterplots of the king’s Court. These deceptions threaten to destroy his love life along with the entire kingdom and himself.

The novel comes out as a well-built and interestingly characterized story and gives a beautiful description of the lovers and friends along with the rivals, traitors, deceptions and betrayals. It shows a tale about courage and honor, destiny, sorcery and fate. The second novel of the series was also self-published by author Morgan in the year 2013. It was titled ‘A March of Kings’ and continued to depict the epic journey of Thorgrin. It shows how he is still in search about his true self, understanding his powers, and his wish of becoming a warrior. After escaping from the dungeon, Thorgrin hears the news of one more assassination attempt on the king. Later, the kingdom is set on the verge of destruction after King MacGil dies. Soon, the court gets filled with family dramas, jealousy, deception, betrayal, ambitions and violence as everyone begins to vie for the throne. As the Dynasty Sword waits for the arrival of the next heir, the murder weapon is discovered, which leads to the attempts of finding the assassin. Also, the McClouds begin to attack the MacGils from within the Ring. Thorgrin somehow wins back the love of the king’s daughter, but his happiness is short lived as he is asked to prepare for The Hundred, an extremely difficult journey of 100 grueling days that all the members of the Legion must undertake and survive. The journey of hell is set to cross the Canyon, into the Wilds, beyond the Ring and has to sail through the Tartuvian Sea, to the Isle of Mist. A dragon is said to patrol the journey in order to allow the initiation of the members of the Legion into manhood. Some questions still remain unanswered as to whether they will be able to return to the Ring and whether Thorgri will be able to know the secrets about his destiny?
